Group workout classes are back at Lindenwood University for all students.

After years of COVID-19 safety measures, the Rec Center at Evans Commons brought them back.

All you need to sign up for the classes is an app on your phone, where you can also sign up for intramural sports.

“We encourage students to download the “LindenRec” app, facilitated by IM leagues to sign up for our intramurals and group classes.” Lindenwood’s Manager of Campus Recreation Peter Michael said. “We have a diverse group of instructors, right now there are two of them,”

The current schedule for group exercise classes is:

  • Zumba: Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.
  • Yoga: Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.

The classes take place in the group exercise room located next to the front desk of the Rec Center.

“Isabel Moreno is our certified Zumba instructor, she is awesome,” Michael said. “We also have our certified Yoga instructor, her name is Susan Johnson, she actually works for Jane’s house studio in St Charles.”

The students are satisfied with the classes so far, even though they get canceled once in a while depending on the instructor’s schedules.

“The classes right now are going great; they max out at 15 folks,” Michael said. “Zumba has been maxed out for the last few weeks.”

Working out at these group classes is a great opportunity to spend time with friends while staying active or even meeting people who enjoy the same kind of workouts as you.

“Zumba was so fun you don’t even remember you are working out,” junior student Ines Camilleri said. “The instructor is amazing, and you should come if you’re looking to meet other students.”

The Rec Center is looking to open the options for students even more, they encourage students to fill out a survey to express which kind of classes they would like to see at the Rec Center as well as new intramural sports. You can find the survey’s QR code at the entrance of Lindenwood’s Rec Center
