Durham, North Carolina — The University of North Carolina is set to host the 2025 NCAA Division I Field Hockey National Championship, bringing the nation’s top teams to Durham for an action-packed tournament.
Top-seeded North Carolina will look to reclaim its national title, but a competitive field stands in their way. On Wednesday, November 12, two play-in matchups will determine who advances to face the top contenders: the winner of Drexel vs. Saint Joseph’s will meet No. 1 North Carolina, while the winner of Fairfield vs. Boston University will take on No. 2 Princeton.
With only four teams in the opening round, the first full round of the championship begins on November 14, featuring 16 teams battling for a spot in the second round. The top four seeds entering the tournament are No. 1 North Carolina, No. 2 Princeton, No. 3 Harvard, and No. 4 Virginia. Second-round play is scheduled for November 16.
The semifinals and championship game will take place in Durham, where the Tar Heels aim to defend home turf and capture another NCAA title.
