Lindenwood University’s theatre department is ushering in the holiday season with its production of White Christmas, presenting the beloved musical to campus audiences with classic charm and winter nostalgia.
The Christmas season has come early to St. Charles Missouri, as the production is based on the 1954 film of the same name, which starred Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye and quickly became a seasonal staple. The stage adaptation of White Christmas premiered in 2000, and the musical features the iconic songs of Irving Berlin, whose compositions helped define an era of American entertainment and continue to shape the seasonal soundscape.
Based on the beloved, timeless film, Lindenwood University Theatre is excited to welcome those who attend this heartwarming musical adaptation of White Christmas.
The show will be based on the story of two World War II veterans, Bob Wallace and Phil Davis, who become successful entertainers and follow a pair of sisters, Betty and Judy Haynes, to a Vermont inn, discovering it is owned by their former commanding general.
The plot blends lighthearted romance with themes of loyalty, friendship, and the spirit of giving, all set against a backdrop of Berlin’s timeless music.
Brett Kristofferson takes the helm as the director. He is in his third year as an assistant professor of the theatre department, and he is excited to bring White Christmas to the stage for the St. Charles community. Amy Gammon is the choreographer for the production, as she has been an adjunct professor at Lindenwood for 10 years now and is an alum of the university. Stu Hollis headed up the set design for this timeless production.
Performances will take place Thursday, Nov. 6, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m.; and Saturday, Nov. 8, at 7:30 p.m. All shows will be held at the J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts.
Tickets can be purchased here, with Lindenwood students and staff having two free tickets available to them.
The production offers the campus community an opportunity to celebrate the season with a familiar and festive favorite.
